lyrics

The Sun is Blue

The sun is blue
Staring down in solar frustration
Not far above
It’s looking straight into your eyes

With a long sigh of boredom
A slight twinge of pain
The air seems heavy
With no sign of rain

Those clouds are gray
With dust rising up to the sky
Defining rays
Of daylight that magnifies each speck

Now the light may seem dingy
Because all my shades are pulled
There’s a clown in the closet
Who’s getting very old

The silent moon
His mouth gaping wide with surprise
A veil of mist
Can’t wipe the tears from her cheek

And with this painful expression
It’s no coincidence
If we could see the sun smiling
Would it all make any sense?
